Want to learn basic's of tuning.
Anyone here willing to show me the basics on tuning? Ive read a bunch of threads on it but Id like to be able to sit in on a few tunes or just to sit down with someone, go over software and tuning.
Thanks

Dave at Function:Tuned has taught me alot about tuning UTEC and I learned SAFC 1/2/Neo from TurboSer1.
Here's my .02. You're not going to learn much from watching. Software operation is 1% of tuning. I can pick up a new software/system and usually have it pretty much fully figured out in 1 tuning session, maybe 2 if it's a extremely complicated one. The other 99% is the logic skills of being able to understand the combustion process, cycle of the motor, what makes power, what blows shit up, and how the changes you are capable of making affect these things. Being able to feel, listen, etc, a car, and know what is going on during the engine cycle.
I would suggest reading th megqmanual for megasquirt. While alot of it is specific for megasquirt there is still alot of good information in it on general tuning.

check out www.evans-tuning.com you can learn alot off the forums hes a smart dude... some tuning rule are
keep egts low using appropriate fuel and ignition timing
keep adding timing to the ignition map up the rev range until you stop making power, then back it off a few degrees.
read about air fuel ratio and where you want to be for n/a and turbo engines related to stoich
identify the weakest link (if there happens to be one) on the motor and tune appropriately.
read about maximum brake torque and how to ignite the mixture at the perfect rod angularity for best and safest power.
these are a few of the things i learned im no tuner just trying to pass on info =P

I completely agree with Dave....you won't learn how to tune unless you unserstand how everything works.
im very intrested also.....i have crome downloaded to my laptop...but i think i might do it the old school way and get a boost controller and a afc and have fun...tuning some shit up...cant wait til i get some more money so i can grab all the turbo parts for my ls..
