Fairfax Co. cops are known to pull people over for stupid stuff that doesn't endanger anyone, while ignoring the issues that really pose a threat to people.

My car got egged on campus and they wouldn't even write a report down for me, or send anyone to look around for people doing it (halloween night) there's a CAMPUS police station so they could have easily sent a bunch of people out.. grrrrr.

I have heard this before. I was caught doing 100mph on 66, I was taken to court. One of my offenses was changed muffler or w/e they call it.

I proved it was legal

1)Cat had not been gutted/removed
2)I did not have straight pipes
3)The muffler tip was not hollowed out

Thats the three requirements the law actually states in the book.

Yeah, fortunately i've been real lucky with the cops around here. The exhaust on my car is legal despite it's clean, crisp sound. It's about attitude too because if you respect them, 99% of the time they'll just say "hey, change it when you can". There are those select few who just think they're god. There are DUI's and DWI's out there getting away with this shit because they nit pick us. Goddamn commonwealth!

Today I just paid $105 for illegal exhaust ticket for my stillen exhaust on my max.

Now for the real BS about this, all equipment violations go on your driving which means your insurance can go up as a result of an illegal equipment, defective equipment....etc.

I've been paying an extra $300 a year for the last two years as the result of two defective/illegal equipment summons (cracked winshield and illegal exhaust).........something to keep in mind the next time you get a bs equipment violation

are you sure about that? When i went to court the judge said that equipment violations and non-moving violations dont show up. I've also had non-moving violations and they havent changed my insurance at all

Yes they do go on your driving record, as am I looking at my driving record right now. As far as insurance surcharges go, it depends on your insurance company. I currently have Progressive which i've been happy with until I found out that I was paying extra premiums for two, soon to be three non moving violations My other exhaust ticket was two years ago with my 240 turbo and I was running straight exhaust so no argument there.

This one however is bs, I was pulled over by a state trooper one night on 66 and he gave me all this shit how my exhaust was too loud. I explained to him it was 50 state legal and conforms to the 95 decible rule, which most states except Virginia abide by.

He asked me to start the car up and pull forward a few feet, yet my car had been running the whole time, I guess my super loud exhaust had made him deaf. I pull forward a few feet, slipping the clutch and keeping it at idle. The cop gives this bs saying yeah.....its too loud.

I never ended up going to court as Stillen was supposed to send me some documentation regarding the exhaust's legality. I just ended up paying it.

Back to the insurance, personally I find it ridiculous that my insurance goes up due to a non moving violation, I've talked with Progressive about it and they said any violation on your driving record be it a moving violation or not will cause your premiums to increase. This is why I will be shopping for a new insurance company next month.
