Well i come into work today, and the Mail Server was down, ok easy enough?

Not, 2 hard drives failed on it, then i got replacements put in. and brought it back up.

THen, today around 11, THE MORTGAGE SOFTWARE SQL SERVER WENT DOWN, ALL 5 HardDRIVES FAILED!!! ALL 5 100GB 15k RPM HARD DRIVES WENT KA PUT!

Now i have no hard drives to replace em with, and ive been havin ISSUES with the Back up server not wantin to read the tapes, so essentially i am fucked, weve calculated we will have lost 3 million in profits today , and prolly another 5 tommorow.

so im fucked yeah, please bring the beer over.

so yeah Called Ingram Micro to have them send me some Hard Drives for my server, well guess what? they are on back ORDERR!!!!!!!!!!

Just having a RAID is not redundancy. Your company's IT policy is to blame if you don't have a backup database that can go online.

If it makes you feel any better I work for a cheap-ass company too.

 

if one of those customer people bother you and say they have a computer disc, and they have pc, tell them were apple. if they got apple, tell them were pc, if they got both: tell them we use linux. and if they got that: say the computers are down, they should be anyway.

Ouch man. Ouch. Another reason for RAID 5 or a SAN. What kind of drives? Everything SCSI has been good to me. SATA drives crap out big time. Go hit up MicroCenter in a hurry. If you want to pay my company $125/hour for consulting I can come out there and help. Good luck.

 

All Drives are Ultra Scsi 100GB 15k RPM Hot n Plugs

and they are all on Raid 5

like i said, all drives failed for some reason.
