BTW, glad to hear that Eric, now let's hit the track!
As long as I don't fuck this tranny up, I'll hit up the track once. Just gotta practice launching first; and install my spacers.

My boy Drew is supposed to have a lane to himself at MIR for a whole day soon. We should have an outing that day for Eurasia and associates. Unlimted runs.

Anybody happen to know how to determine how much HP / boost a stock transmission for a particular vehicle can handle?

The main reason I bought the automatic is because I have to drive on the Beltway 5 days a week. I just learned to drive a manual last year, but only had @ 30 minutes of practice. I'm sure I could master it if I had a full week of practice.

My next sports car will definitely be a manual (hopefully a Porsche or Ferrari ). But I want to keep the Z automatic (especially now that I have a performance built tranny). Slow cars like Civics and such completely SUCK with automatic transmissions. But I think high HP automatics are alot of fun, like my 300ZX and my aunt's Trans Am.

I believe most people that dog automatics are people who have a slight superiority complex because they can drive a manual, and some people cannot (or not had the opportunity to learn). I guess that's fair in comparing drivers. But when comparing cars, manuals are not always superior.
Case in point, the automatic 300ZX was detuned (different cams) to have 20HP less than the manual (280HP vs 300HP). Nissan did this intentionally to make the cars as equally as fast as they could.
As far as racing is concerned, the auto is often favored because of quick precise shifting (not prone to driver error) and no turbo lag (on boosted cars of course). I have also read that in drag racing, an auto provides a much better launch (provided the car is built properly, I assume). I cannot testify to that, since I am not a drag racer and have never been on the track.

Yep. Thanks. I already like the car; it's been one of my faves since I was a kid and didn't know jack shit about cars. It's the tranny that's new to me. I just hope it holds up. If I go into debt anymore, I'm running away to Mexico to live as an outlaw.
