My boy Drew is supposed to have a lane to himself at MIR for a whole day soon. We should have an outing that day for Eurasia and associates. Unlimted runs.

My next sports car will definitely be a manual (hopefully a Porsche or Ferrari
). But I want to keep the Z automatic (especially now that I have a performance built tranny). Slow cars like Civics and such completely SUCK with automatic transmissions. But I think high HP automatics are alot of fun, like my 300ZX and my aunt's Trans Am.I believe most people that dog automatics are people who have a slight superiority complex because they can drive a manual, and some people cannot (or not had the opportunity to learn). I guess that's fair in comparing drivers. But when comparing cars, manuals are not always superior.
Case in point, the automatic 300ZX was detuned (different cams) to have 20HP less than the manual (280HP vs 300HP). Nissan did this intentionally to make the cars as equally as fast as they could.
As far as racing is concerned, the auto is often favored because of quick precise shifting (not prone to driver error) and no turbo lag (on boosted cars of course). I have also read that in drag racing, an auto provides a much better launch (provided the car is built properly, I assume). I cannot testify to that, since I am not a drag racer and have never been on the track.
