Default ran for the first time at MIR this past sunday

my friend let me use his hatch to drag on sunday. I've never dragraced before and truthfully i'm more of a road race fan but it was fun. The turn out was low but it was good because i made like 20 passes. I don't have the time sheets since i left them in his car but my 2 fastest times were 13.65 and 13.68. and the reaction times were slow, around .2?? and .24? .The rest bounced between 13.7 and 13.9 and simialr reaction times. I ran in the 14's once but i accidentally left the e-brak up just a hair after the burnout. oh well, i'm new. It was real fun though. I ran in the PAM class and was knocked out 3rd qualifying roud but got back in when somebody broke. Then i was knocked out again by a green hatch. I may get into it now. all depends on $$$.

The car is a 92 hatch w/ a lightley modded gsr swap. I ran full slicks up front, not sure the size other then they were 13's and his skinnies didnt' show up so i had some rota slips w/ azenis on the back.

I don't see the point of slicks on a 13 sec car no offence.

What you should of gone was used the azenis on the front along with another STREET tire on the back. Slicks weigh more and have more rotating mass and WAY to much traction for the power you don't make. Your not gonna spin that badly with a street tire SO WHY RUN SLICKS? are you trying to break your car or what?

Next time you go to the track run the azenis of front and I bet your times are better.

Not true. You just have to run the right size slick for the right app. Some 20x8x13s would be nice for a lightly modded GSR. I mean with azenis all you oculd pull at best is a 2.0 60ft and you have to be one hell of a driver to do that. With some slicks 1.7s are easily attainable and with some skinnies on the back you can knock off a good amount of time compared to some street tires on street rims.

well explain this..

My buddies turbo gsr on bfg drag radials pulls 2.0 60 foots.
on azenis 1.9's consis

Now as for slicks there over kill for a 140whp car YOU DO NOT NEED THEM you will get PLENTY of traction on a street tire. If my turbo hatch that made over 200whp had no traction issues I dont think a 140whp civic will have any issues either.

Look into how slick sizes combos work with what whp before you try to argue with me. Give John at M&H Slicks A talk and he will make you see the light. Also its not tractions issues, its called attaining the lowest possible 60ft time to achieve the best 1/4mile time. ALso when you add skinnies in the back it takes off like .1 or .2 secs off your quarter.

I guess I am still in the dark.

Id rather know how my car reacts on street tires then slicks because atleast I know what it will do on the street and how I will drive the car every day. Slicks to me unless you make 400whp is just over kill and is to costly on parts. its WAY to much traction for daily driven cars and will snap axles (if stock and some that are aftermarket) sooner or later and break diffs ect ect. Id rather spin just a little grab traction and go. but maybe thats just me?
