Default Performance driving schools near NoVa?

I'm turning 17 next month (November) and am asking my parents for cash as my present. I want to take a class in performance driving sometime next year once I collect enough money and was wondering if anyone knew of a school in or around NoVa they would recommend. Maryland would probably work also.

Thanks a lot

These guys have "friday at the track" or FATT for short.... good peformance driving instruction, and one you get signed off, you can drive solo....

This is NASA VA's website... They have "High Performance Driving Events" or HPDE's for short... LOTS of classroom time, and great instruction... be prepared to spend all weekend at the track....

That school is for a racing license.... You need a true race car to attend that school...

In addition to the instruction they give during FATT days, Summit Point does offer a driving program where the instructors teach you how to successfully perform 180s, 360s, and other driving manuevers of that sort.

Yeah, I probably should have mentioned I don't have a car of my own yet.

From what I saw the sites don't offer any cars to learn in. I'm shooting to get an MR2 for a first car for the potential they offer and I love the looks. If and when I end up finding one, I want to be able to drive it to it's full ability and not end up totalling it.

MR2 is a risky first car, but if you're comfortable with the risk, then go for it. If you're 100% into the RWD, i suggest maybe a 240 as your first. just cuz you'll probably crash it, so it might as well be cheap right? just grab up an 89-90 S13 fastback (most common car EVAR) and beat it to hell and back

youll definately need a car first thoguh, but lots of props to you for thinking of driving school even before you've gotten your own car
