Honestly primer isnt going to make a difference because they have to prep it. Most shops will not take the owners prep work because if you fuck up or half ass it their work looks like hell. Not trying to shoot down Maaco but they dont use the best products and single stage paint isnt exactly famous for long life. Do you want an overall color change including the door jambs, trunk jamb, and under the hood? Lemme know what youre looking for and what kind of products youd like to use and i might be able to help you out because i do paint body work on the side. Also are you needing any spots repaired or is the body strait?
