I am a muscle car guy myself, having several Pontiacs from the late 60's and early 70's and working in parts for a few GM dealerships (back in the day). That 5.0 Chevy motor isn't as good as the Ford 5.0. If you could manage to get your hands on a real Chevy 302 from the late 60's (which is a lot better then the Ford motor) then I would go with that, but most people tend to pull that motor and stick in a 350 or 383 with the appropriate transmission. Its a good keeper, but if you could get an '89 Firebird with the 3.8 turbo or a GTA I think you will be better off. You are in a unique situation. I don't think too many shops will want to touch that motor, but there is a shop in Chantilly that is mostly muscle cars. I forget the name, but its off of Lee Rd right across from Famous Dave's

alright thanks, well i know the 305 isnt the greatest of motors but the 383 was estimated at $3500. im going to try and restore the car first, with an engine rebuild kit and go on from there. thanks for the help, ill keep researching and find out what i can do.

EB3........And i wouldnt recomend them unfortunately, Maybe try Clarks Automotive in Manassas near the Wendys off Rt28

What type of work do you need/want done to it? No shop is really gonna turn down your buisness because of the motor you have, the economy is not that good
