Looking to be a mechanic's apprentice
Well, i've chosen a career in the automotive field, as a technician. I don't have much hands on experience. I'm 19 years old, and currently going to NOVA. I'm looking for a part-time job, Saturday mornings would be great since i work full time mon-friday mornings. Not looking to make a whole lot of money, just looking for a master mechanic that is willing to show me the basics. My name is Gabriel, please contact me through e-mail at Gabriel3486@msn.com, Thank you.

To really learn, you're going to have to do it fulltime. Just go around to dealerships and see if they are hiring for apprentices.
This is what I am currently doing. Been doing it for 6-7 months now.

I started in a Dealership than worked my way to a speed shop now I only do mechanic stuff on the side, its worth it being an apprentice, I learned a ton within the first year.

Re: Looking to be a mechanic's apprentice
Being a vocational student gets you a decent job starting off when you graduate. But I can gurantee that you'll learn more of what you NEED working as an apprentice. I think going to tech school broadens your knowledge of the technicalities of cars so I guess it's a good thing. But I'd rather work at the dealership and get paid to learn. And if you go to school and realize that you don't like the industry, what are you going to do?
