So where are you working? Just moved up here myself, making about the same, and it really isn't that bad. Depending where you have to go to work. I don't have to go into the city, or at least any city other than Manassas. Lemme know.

Anywhere thats a hour or 2 away from D.C. is going to be high. I would say you would have better luck in the Dumfries area. Its a little older over there and rent or if your buying isn't going to be high like the other place people are telling you about. If your not scaried of black people and old guys then thats the place to move to. About a 45 Min drive from D.C. and right next to 95. If you had a deck you could look over it and tell how bad traffic was on it. Good luck.

thats horrible of you're on a 70k pretaxed salary. not saying you are, but he is.that would cost him 48,000 a year. maybe your a baller or a boss talker, i don't know but i know cats that make well in the six figures who don't want a mortgage that high.

I make 62k a year, and i live w/ 2 other roommates, and we each chip in bout 1600 each a month, for the mortgage, electricity, cable, internet. and Home improvement, this house is a cash cow that we are investing in so that in about 2 years we can sell it for a huge profit.

I repeat, i could not afford this house by myself.

Are you going to split the equity with them when you sell? Or are they paying your mortgage?

Ha, yeah I lived in Williamstown for a while. One of my buddies bought the house and we paid rent to live there. His monthly payment was a little over around $1100, and with 4 of us living there it was real cheap even after utilities and all that. It's not AS shady as people make it out to be and nothing bad really happened other than that one time the basement was broken into haha. The cops are nice though, one officer complimented me on my car.
