Re: Japanese Engine Import
Wow that motor looks terrible.
I bought a D15B from JEI for a daily. I had the motor delivered to Richmond. The water pump was locked up and the timing belt looked like it had gone through a paper shredder.
The owner is a complete dick. He wouldn't refund my shipping cost and made me bring the motor back myself to exchange it. The second motor I got was a D16 to replace it and they gave me a P08 ECU (won't run a D16). So I was stuck buying a P28 to run it because they INSISTED the P08 would work.
The owner accused me of messing up the motor on purpose and got pissed because I brought back the locked up motor in pieces in order to show him the timing belt damage.
In the end, I ended up getting a chipped P28 and getting my roommate (Matt Shue) to tune it for gas mileage (42 MPG) so everything worked out well. The motor compression tests perfect and doesn't burn a drop of oil.
All in all, I wouldn't go back to them for another motor. If you DO decide to deal with them, deal with Phil. He is really helpful and understanding, unlike the dickhead owner.

i bought an engine from them a while back and delt with phil. he let me go into the back, and pick from a bunch of different b20s. the motor i picked up was internally very clean at that. phil is def. a good guy to deal with there
