Honda heater core install - Suggestions?
Seems as though my heater core decided to die on my Civic. I was quoted $1400 by Leesburg Honda for the repair which seemed a bit steep. I do know that it is a pretty detailed repair but wanted to know if anyone on here has successfully completed one of these repairs before.
I travel quite a bit on business and would rather not just drop it off at a dealer and come back to find out it needs more and more repairs. I use the car to commute into D.C. when I work downtown, so, I don't feel like dumping an insane amount of money into a commuter car.
Any suggestions as to a reputable shop would be great or if anyone is looking to make some extra cash I would gladly compensate.
Thanks

get one from a junkyard for like 40 bux,
DIY
and screw what your dealer says lol
who needs a dash!~
on the realistic side,
take a screwdriver, and unscrew your dash out.... take it to a shop, not a dealer and have them install it for like alot less lol

ya, alot of shops dont really like installing used parts that you give them,.... but alot of shops will actually do it, you gotta just look.
if you download the FSM for your car, which im sure you can findd a PSD document on google, then it will show you where all the dash screws are,
im pretty sure there ostly screw, im not familiar with hondas, but nissans are a screw/ 10 mil socket either will work
also the wiring harness is zip tied to the dash, cut them re zip tie them with some zip ties from wal-mart
hell if your seriously curious, find your car in the junkyard and remove THAT dashboard first, because then you can get the heater core, etc.
now if you dont have time fork in the money, but $1400 sounds like some sick ass tein coilovers, or a turbo conversion XD,
thats like both of my cars put together~!
but yea if you have a weekend to your self, and dont mind driving your car to the local shop without a dash just once, or just towing it whatever then you should
and installing a heater core with the FSM should be cake compared to removing the dash...
