I think we are going to book at the palms and we are trying to stay ocean front. I read some of the reviews at some of the hotels and everything gets mixed review which makes me think twice about alot of the hotels

I can vouch that the delano is a nice hotel. Do NOT eat at their restaurant, it's overpriced and really quite terrible. There are way better restaurants in Miami.

Oh, if you don't mind being a ways out of S. Beach but still actually on the beach, stay at the Ritz in Biscayne. It's brand new, beautiful, great restaurant, unbelievable service, etc. Hertz in Miami rents Z33s and C6s anyway, so it's alright to drive to/from a little bit. Ritz Biscayne is definitely a chill spot.
