Free credit report + score until july 31
I work for this company, and saw this flyer in the break room for a free credit report. If any of you are planning to buy a car or a house, or just curious how your credit is, I suggest you give it a try. Since you're requesting your own credit it doesn't count as an inquiry, won't affect you, its free and you get online access to your credit report from equifax for 30 days. Its only one month access and they won't sign you up for any annoying services. Fannie Mae is the one giving this and its good until tomorrow, so if anybody is interested give it a try.

click on order now, fill out your information along with a credit card number and put in promotion fanniemae995, hit apply and it will bring the price down to $0. Once you submitted, it will take you through the verification process and you should be able to see your report almost immediately. Take advantage of it, its free.

... good deal since its free, however the problem is in order to recieve it, they must pull credit. if you have applied for anything else recently (i believe its 30 days but i would wait longer to be safe), it will lower your credit score. trust me on this... i work for a mortgage company and i look at credit reports all day. and we are stressed NOT to pull credit but to reprint or merge from a current file, as we will lower the score and we get one pissed off borrower.
nice find. And yea it won't lower your credit score unless you pull it a lot, like twice in the same month. If you check it just once and no one else has pulled it, it won't lower it. Reason is b/c if you keep checking it, they think you are not responsible and unsure of what transactions you are making. Pulling it once though is fine
come on jason get with the FNBAZ program

Identity Guard and others like it are the biggest pile of shit companies out there! They trick you to pay their membership fee of 30.00 per year to "protect" your credit. The kicker is that you don't even know you signed up for it because they send you 20.00 checks and it saids in tiny print, "if you cash this, your automatically signing up for our service ect...."
hey bro, I work at intersections, which is the company that pulls credit. There are three kinds of inquiries, hard inquiries, soft inquiries and internal audits. Hard inquiries are what you are referring to and yes those do affect your credit score if you do too many. A hard inquiry is a credit check which sole purpose is to check your credit worthiness. A soft inquiry is if you request the credit report yourself, or those pre-approved credit card offers you receive, the last is an internal audit, and thats the credit bureaus doing some internal testing on accounts and they use yours. A soft inquiry and internal audit get recorded, but don't get reported or affect your score in any way. I am FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) certified, and had to listen to all this shit for two weeks, info is good.
Some of the ways they enroll customers may seem sneaky, but if you really look at the service it may or may not be of use to you. You may not think its important to "protect" your credit. Go to ftc.gov, a government website and look up identity theft and how screwed some people get. By protecting all they do is notify you of any activity and ask you if you recognize it, if you do then all is fine. If you don't, then you contact the creditor and find out if its a fraudulent account by the creditor (opening one up without your permission), or somebody using your personal information and getting loans or credit cards in your name. Its not for everybody, and I'm not here to sell this product to anyone, but I wouldn't go as far as generalize the companies and make it sound like a scam. If you ever become a victim of identity theft, or see all the shit that it makes them go through you'll understand, I see how people's credit gets fucked up bad everyday, but to each his own.
Like I said, its free, doesn't affect your score and its good to know your history and score. That way if you have any mistakes, or something is inaccurate, you can take care of it before it becomes a problem in the future.

yo even if you pull a lot of soft inquiries, like twice in a month. Won't your credit score still drop? So lets say I pull 10 today, you are saying my credit score will be unaffected? I heard it will be
I could sit here all day and tell you that it won't affect your score, but of course somebody told you otherwise. So here is a website, its from myfico.com, which is a branch of my company. It has some good information in it, look through it and try to understand it. Its information that everyone on this board will need sooner or later, so its a good idea to know what affects you.

Just to let all the people who look here from MD, all MD citizens by law are allowed 1 free credit report a year from each of the big 3 credit reporting bureaus. And a simple, cost effective way to protect ur identity from being stolen is to buy a paper shredder and shred every piece of paper u r throwing away that contains a pre-approved credit card form w/ ur name on it, any piece of paper that contains ur social security number on it, any piece of paper that contains ur driver license number, and any piece of paper that contains any of ur financial information. Also, don't give ur social security number to an employer until they extend an offer of employment to you. And finally, all someone needs is ur social security number and ur driver license number to effectively boost ur identity. Be very cautious of who you give those numbers to.
