To the threadmaker, what you are doing is redundant b/c as previously mentioned the Commonwealth of VA has a site like this setup. And you can search more then just Fairfax County thru that site.
On the Commonwealth site, it lists the charge, the person's name, the city/zip code of where that person lives, the officer's name who pulled you over, which department that officer is from, all the court dates involved, the plea of the defendant, the final disposition of the judge, and any amended charges. Also, fine, jail time, and license suspension time are listed as well.
The record goes back at least 10 years, b/c I pulled up my dad's name in Chesapeake district court and it showed him getting pulled over back in 1995 for speeding.

Regarding the courts automated information system, there are several things which make in insufficient. Besides being down every night, the data on the court page is often altered or inaccurate. Any arrest that doesn't result in a court case will not appear on the page. Anyone who has a record "expunged" such as those with a deferred disposition (ie. 251 disposition) will no longer appear on the courts site. Also, with charges (usually drug related) where an individual chooses to work with a detective to get out of trouble (and bust somebody else) their charges are often marked "private" and don't appear on the court site either.
Along with these the court site only allows you to search by name. One of the huge features of my little arrest search is the ability to search by a street name so you can find dirt on your neighbors. Right now you can't search by two items but soon you'll be able to search by DWI and Vienna to see all DWI arrests in Vienna.
In any case the court page certainly has its advantages, but my little arrest search isn't redundant, it just provides a different look at the complete data.
just to dispel some myths
And while I'm on the topic of the court pages, why the hell isn't Fairfax's circuit court online? Every other damn county is.

Although I agree that the address is useful if it used for the right purposes, I WOULD NOT want my address to be known by unknown people. Another way for car jackers to find a car to target maybe?
Any expunged record is supposed to be removed. Expunged means the records are erased, which is the whole point of expunging a record.
In addition, the criminal informants should have their arrests private. If one was a CI, why the hell would you ever want the arrest to be known publicly? The whole point is to be undercover, so no one knows.
I'm not trying to tear apart your reply, your site is useful, but the "faults" you mention on the state's website aren't faults at all.
I agree with your concerns, however what if you're at the other end, possibly about to be busted by a CI, for example, and want to research somebody's history first? This is why the site is fairfaxUNDERGROUND and not a state site. All of this information was publicly released by the police department. Perhaps they should keep Confidential Informant's arrests off the list completely in the future.
As far car jackers go there's nothing really that they can gain from a site like this. Other than possibly searching for everyone that has exhaust violations or something, but they could just as easily drive around your neighborhood.
I don't intend for this to blow up county-wide, but be more for the small percentage of elite users. Perhaps if it gets too widespread I'll make it so you have to be logged in to a verified account or something to search the arrest list.

I have found out that this site is unlawful, becasue it discloses private information. My gf's mom contacted dmv about the www.courts.state.va.us (same site as mentioned before), and DMV DID NOT know about this site and will be doing something about it in the near future. Which is crazy to hear they didn't hear about it, b/c i have known about it for atleast 3 or 4 years.
