when my gsr was stock i hit 145mph on the highway late at night with no one else in sight...still more to go just way too dangerous and accelerating so slowly...now i could hit the rev limiter like its nothin (170mph) but i doubt if i'd ever go that fast again (public roads, anyway) that was a long time ago and i was stupid.

 

i'm not sure, u got some gears in that? i know my 540i will do 180 but not sure bout a 3 series

I got my car when it was 6 years old with 72k miles on it, you still get more with these things than most/all new cars with similar specs costing 10k+ more. People get pissed off because they see these things and instantly figure you got the car for 40k+ and that you're a classic rich/snobby BMW driver. This thing cost me half that, you did even better than me with the Mtech.

540s are beast, been beat by a semi-stock one before (540 sport w/ 6 speed.) Top end on most 3s isn't too hot because of the close ratio 5 speed, if we had another gear like the euro models got the same production run, we woud be set. I've had this up to 140 before, it gets fairly close to the redline (that was probably 5.5k rpm, I don't remember.. that was before the chip that took off the 155mph stock limiter and raised redline to 7k.) The chassis/motor is good for a lot more.

 

That whole story is total bullshit, there is no way in hell a STATE TROOPER would ever let you go doing 140blahblahblah bullshit. I have met a lot of state troopers and I know for a fact none of them would let you go.

 

Not possible to go 166 mph in that car. I'm assuming you have 3.23 gears since it's out a 1999 M3, correct?
