you said you do 'glasswork, do you think it would be possible to fab up an upper console lid to accommodate my shifter? going from the six speed to the A3 i had to dump the upper console because it wouldnt fit any longer since the shifter travels almost as far back as the console lid. here is a pic so you see what i mean....

Do u still hate the origional piece? It would make it 100 times easier if I had that to cut up and make into a new piece.

i do have the original from when my car was a 6-speed... i think i would rather have it fashioned from one from an automatic ill get ahold of one here in the next few weeks and maybe we can meet up after i get my car back on the road so you can get measurements and what not you may need..... dont know if you do the work at a shop.... if you do i may be able to just leave the car with you so you can do test fits if you need to
