that's exactly what it is...the only way they'll hook you up, is if you spend a TON of money thru them...then usually they'll use your car as a rolling billboard and they'll hoko you up w/ free labor...my friend did that thru racer X i htink, got a B18C5 built for turbo for the price of parts

you will not get sponsership from any major company unless you are pro. if you want free shit, you have to earn it. the closest thing right now that would be available to you would be free tires... and thats only if you are skilled at driving and compete. you could also find local shops that are willing to help you out but unless you have friends, you will have to be in competition somewhere to get them recognized by the public. there are no freebies in this world, it may seem like an easy thing to do but to get anything from them you have to push forth an effort and do something to pay the price.

Yea any of you guys have experience with sponsors for, say, autocrossing or road racing? I autoX all the time and I wouldnt mind slapping on their logo on my car for a free set of race tires.

Well, how good are you at autoX? Sponsors will be primarily interested in the people who are consistently doing the best at events, so if you're out there doing your thing and getting noticed, it will up your value to them greatly if you were to approach them with a sponsorship proposal.

Ahh I see. i consistently place in the top 3 in STX with my wrx. So this would be something I would have to go up to a copmany myself and give them a proposal. Should I just go up to the local import shop and ask them to sponsor me? How does all thsi work.

Sorry for all the noob questions...

I personally have not gone through the sponsorship process, so I won't be able to give you any advice from that perspective.

Here's a basic article.. it's geared more towards show cars, but the basic principles are the same.

honestly... you need a VERY VERY VERY fast FWD car that goes like 8's in the qr or have some crazy ass show car... Now a days its real hard to get a TRUE sponsor.. My friend mike with his 350z just got a bunch of sponsors but he busted his ass and made sooo many phone calls and just talked to the right people. but now his 350z his a body kit, NX kit, k&n filter ect ect... but yea man if thats ur goal go for it... just be prepared to either make that ur job or make it another full time job..
