Northern Virginia Community College
ATI or UTI?
Sorry to bring back kind of an old thread, but there is a UTI shcool being built by the dulles airport for auto mechanics, should be ready by september is what the interview guy told me. Only thing that sucks ASSS is that you can't have more than 3 points in your driving record. I was told that a student that passed as one of the best students in the class got busted for street racing and got fired from his job. Wasted all that money and time. Oh well, gotta start going to tracks now.
i wanted to go to UTI, and learn my way into being a
professional and certified mechanic. but i started working
as a helper/ apprentice at an autobody/ mechanic shop.
i was learning both ..and its soooo much easier to make
a shit load of money doing body work then mechanics.
not only that the physical strain and shiet like that the
mechanics go through is shitty. body work, we work some
sit around chill, just bullshit ..we pace our work like shit.
i mean the body work at my shop is commission based, but
the guy that im learning under, never went to school for
any car stuff ..he just learned as an apprentice for a few
years. and makes a good amount of money, for the way
we work. on a shitty week, without that much work he'll
take home around 1400-1700 a week. but usually when
theres a decent amount of cars to work on, he takes
home 3000-4000 easy.
but i mean thats just me. at first i was so set on being
a mechanic, but i started learning body work and its so
much more money, with so much less work and physical
strain.
anyway though as for the thread topic. lot of my friends go
to UTI in PA and CALI. i heard the lincoln tech campus
in nova isn't bad either.

no offense man..... but you will not love a career turning wrenches. You might love running a shot, but Iguarantee turning wrenches will get old. I use to wrench and I never met one mechanic that loved their job that was over 30. Doing a physical labor job is awesome when you are young, but when you break your hand and are out of work for a month.... and you got 2 kids at home... and a nagging wife..... life is tough.
Money is not everyhting, but providing stability and safety to a family is.
