When did this go into effect? I just renewed mine 9/30/04, I fall into those categories and I didn't have to retake the test.
Eh, maybe I just got lucky and the lady didn't make me take one.

Qoute directly from DMV's website:
Your Virginia driver's license normally expires on your birthday and will expire when you reach an age that is divisible by five - 20, 25, 30, 35, etc. When you renew your license, it normally will be valid for five years. You may renew your driver's license as early as two years prior to the expiration date on your license. If you were convicted of two or more moving violations (one or more if under age 21) since your license was last issued, you must retake the two-part knowledge exam and any other knowledge exams for each type of license you hold.

I had to retake the written test for driving and motorcylce when i renewed last year, passed the driving with flying colors and just barely passed the motorcycle exam. But i had just taken the motorcycle exam when i was 23 to get my license and had to retake the exam when i renewed my license at 25.
I did have numerous exhaust and illegal tint tickets, not any speeding tiks though.

I just got my license back from it being suspended...the lady made me re-take the test to get it back. I was a little pissed since I just had got done paying nearly $1000 in fines and then the re-instatement fees too.
I missed zero signs and four on the general part of it...very close. I would've gone postal on them fuggers if I had missed another question.
