I was paced going 88 on 55 mph zone in rte.1(alexandria corridor) just when i got off wilson bridge on my r6 during memorial weekend. That's automatic reckless of course. Since the place I work for provides legal services, I took advantage of it. I didn't pay a dime on the lawyer which is $1k if out of my pocket.
My lawyer advised me to get my speedo calibrated which for your old car, it will say it's off by a few miles or you can just tell the mechanic that you need it for court. Usually they'll help you out with that. One thing I always hear people asked during their trial was the cop's speedo calibration If the cop says it wasn't calibrated within that period, the judge will dismiss the case. Also, If you have a speeding ticket within the past 3 years, don't bother bringing in your driving record.

In my case, Since it was my first ever ticket in the Commonwealth of Virginia, my lawyer pleaded with the trooper and the prosecutor and just had me admit guilt and paid the COURT FEE not the speeding fine and no points on my license.

And when you go to court....DRESS UP....slacks, long sleeve shirt and tie....

The scientific measurement used is - His car is calibrated every year. If his speedometer says 75 and he is behind you then you must be doing 75 or faster or else he would be driving through you.

If you go and show that your own speedometer was off that won't show that you weren't at fault it just shows that you were driving a vehicle with an improperly working speedometer and perhaps your speeding was not intentional. If indeed yours was off I would present this in a pleading manner like "Your Honor, after the infraction I took my car to XYZ and they showed me that my speedometer was off and they FIXED it for me. I was not intentionally speeding and I would like to apologize to the Trooper and the Court" If you come off like an ahole they will reward you...like an ahole

Something else to consider is that the left lane for is for passing and all other traffic should stay right. In New Jersey they bang out tons of tickets for failure to keep right for people just hanging (or even better, speeding) in the left lane. I also hear people that say "No point slowing down now (after they speed past a trap) they already got me..." That is stupid...what that shows is you know you've been busted and still don't care. You don't have any remorse...of course you should slow down if you see a cop....trust me....I know

Good tips. Thanks guys.

And yea, i mean i was in the left lane and guys were passing me, shouldnt logic have the cop get them before my ass who was slower than them? LOL

But yea, i am trying to go to get my car probably calibrated this weekend.

Anyone got a suggestion on where or where they are cool?

And on the cop's speedo calibration, how do i go about asking that? Do i ask the judge to see it? Do i ask him before i go infront of the judge? How does it work?

when you go up in front of the judge he will ask you if you have anything to say, that's when you ask the officer about his calibration and if he could show the judge the papers

Asked the judge if the police officer's cruiser's speedometer was calibrated around the time you got pulled over. And the judge will ask the officer.

here's the number of the shop that calibrated my bike:

Century Auto Service
703 709 5881

Lawyer's name that represented me: Just ask him for advise.
Charles J. Samuels
703 591 9203

His office is right by the courthouse
