Default Advice on a speeding Ticket on 95/Arlington?

Hey guys,

Well i recently got a ticket for speeding on 95, it was an unmarked impala state trooper. Dude was a super dick, i was speeding cause i was late to class, but i was going max 67 on 95 which aint shit for the left lane, i even had people going around my little POS because i wasnt going fast enough for the fast lane. So i see the cop in the unmarked car like i'd guesse 7-8 cars waaaay behind me, he wasnt chasing anyone that was passing me so i assumed he was cool with my speed. So i go to take the washington BLVD. exit and he is following me from a distnace, i see that and just assume shit hes gonna pull me over. Well he does, and comes to me saying if i was in an emergency cause he clocked me at 75mph! I was in shock cause my POS doesnt even go that fast lol.

He proceeds to just get at me with some attitude, i question him on if he could have been wrong cause i saw him all the way behind me for a while, and why didnt he go after the guys going around me, that were going WAY faster than me. He ignored that and then i asked him if he could have made a mistake on my speed seeing how he maybe clocked some of those cars that went around me. His response was "ok". And i said no 'OK', Yes or NO. And he said this wasnt the time or place to argue about it, thats what court was for lol. What dick, black asshole old cop.

Well he didnt budge and hit me with attitude after that, telling me he's been doing this longer than 'you've been on this earth'(im 24).

I normally dont hit over 70 ANYWHERE unless im on 66(road trips), and damn sure didnt hit 75mph on 95 especially since i saw him in my rear view, but took the risk of going 60ish cause he was letting alot of cars go. (and i didnt know 95 was 55MPH limit thought it was 60).

With that said, do any of you guys got advice on how to fight this? Anyone ever had something similar happen? I ain't trying to get a lawyer cause of the cost, could i get out of this somehow? Will any judge buy what happened?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Did he physically clock you or did he trail you for the required distance?

If the answer is... physically clocked with radar... your fucked. Pay it.

I have no idea, i didnt ask him that.

He sent me a hint with atitude though that my car was old and that maybe i should check the speedo recalibration.

Truthfully i KNOW i wasnt going 75, i know what 75 is like in my car, it rambles and gets louder and shit with higher speed. I was clocked at 76 like 2 years ago on 66 coming home from JMU. And i was really going that fast over there.

I wasnt even close to that on 95.

If you have a good driving record, you can claim that the officer's equipment was faulty. I've seen people get away with it while waiting at court.

BUT, in the end, you were still speeding regardless. It's not likely you're going to get away without paying the fines.

I'd get your speedometer calibrated, if its off a few mph that can help. You also can ask to see the cops speedo calibration certificate in court. If its off or he doesn't have it with him............it definately hurts his case. Asking to see the cop's speedo certification helped my get my pace ticked dropped since his "certified" speedo was off by 3mph. My ticket was for 67 in a 55 btw.

If he clocked you on radar, you have a slim chance(I say this because your guilty until proven innocent in FFX). Radar itself doesn't identify the car that is speeding, it just displays the speed of the fastest or strongest target. You mentioned there were cars passing you, the cop may have clocked one of them and pulled you over for their speed. It's hard to prove but might be worth talking to a lawyer and many will give you a free consultation anyways.

look on the ticket, if it says 75 RADAR then you're fucked unless you pull out the old, When was the last time you radar gun was calibrated, cuz they have to have it calibrated on a certain amount of days, i think its 30, if he didnt get it calibrated within the alloted time then you should be good, if he says yes ask him to pull the papers out that rpove he got it calibrated, if he ulls it out i think the best thing to do would be to admit you were speeding but tell the judge the right speed you were going, print out a copy of your driving record, maybe take a driving course (normally judges go easier on you when you do that), tell him you are attending school and whatnot and just be polite, usually if its you're first offense they will drop it, you could also pull the old how do you know it was me you were using your radar on, do you have any proof that you were actually radaring me

Did the cop pace you or get you on radar? It should say on the ticket which method he used.

He paced me now that i look at the ticket! So with that said, does that mean he didnt even clock me? Instead just kept up with me and made a guess? How does that work?
