WTB: bike for under 3k
It's the wrong time to buy a bike. Most bikes for sale right now are overpriced. Your best bet is at the end of the Mid-Atlantic riding season, or right before Christmas.
or, go join a model specific forum. Guys in these forums know the actual worth. For around 3k you should be able to land a FI bike. F4i's and sv650's (03 and up) can be found, probably with higher mileage, but these 2 models can run for a long time. I've seen a few clean FI 600gixxers go for low 3's as well. Check the frame/subframe if you think the kid was ever 'stuntin' the bike.

thanks ick. but yeah i know its the wrong time but im still gonna get one. im not gonna let an overpriced bike stop me from riding bc i know if i dont get one now i never will. i been looking on cycletrader and ive found some nice bikes, esp CBR's for a good price but im really lookin for a late 90's early 00. somethin thats already been broken in and will be easy to keep up.
My buddy is selling his 94 CBR600 (F2) for $1800. I think it needs minor things like an oil change and chain tension check. You'd have some $ left over for correct gear, MSF class, etc.
Alright I gotta question. A local shop has CBR 900RR for 45. It has 13xxx miles on it. Its chromed to death. Chrome swing arm, chrome wheels, pegs, gas cap, and chrome between the plastics. The only thing wrong is it has a hole the size of a golf ball in the front under the shield. Would that be a good buy just to resell for a higher price or no? Oh its purple highlighter yellow and white. When I first saw it I hated the colors but as I looked at it more and more it seemed like a good price. Like I said I really want a 600 to get started on but if I can buy a 900RR for 45 and resell it or trade for a nice 600 I want to do it.
haha i didnt like the colors at first.. i didnt really like the CBR's but I like the RR's. Its a clean bike man trust me I watched around 4 or 5 people walk in a place full of bikes and all somehow walked straight to this honda.
