Secondly, the majority of street (sport) bikes aren't "pampered" and rarely do I see one reach 30k with the original engine (no rebuild, replacement or repairs not included the usual maintenance).

If your averaging 3,000 miles a year your a bitch simple as that. Bikes are made to be riden.. I put 8,950 on my bike last year alone. Those 3,000 miles that KBB says are for "Fair Weather Riders" and are probably immature owners that do not really know how to handle/own a bike.. us "Year Round" riders sometimes depend on our bikes as a means of transportation and or fun weekend riding when we need it, so in turn we tend to take REALLY good care of our bikes so they are dependable.. I hope I have painted the picture enough for you to understand.

Considering the year, 17.5k is quite high. I have an '08 GSXR 1000 with 3200 miles. Any bike over 12k that is under 3 years old is considered high mileage. Accordingly to KBB, the average on a sport bike is 3k per year.

ok well stop bitching about the so called "high mileage" you refer to, because to a "Fair Weather, Noob Rider" like yourself.. It will look like high mileage, this bike is a BEAUTY and WELL taken care of, I would pick it up in a heart beat if I was not strapped for cash.
