Dude you bought the car from was a fucking liar. The NAs in Japan came with the same HP as the NAs here in the states: 222bhp. And even that is a bit high.
edit: and you DEFINITELY don't have MIVEC. No 3000GT or GTO anywhere in the world came with MIVEC.

That being said, the NAs are actually fairly reliable, and make sexy DDs.

if you look up online MIVEC doesnt add power it was jst for fuel economy. Add MIVEC is a MOD. And Your are right they are good cars and they are fun to drive and for they guy up top talkin shit base staelth have a SOCH engine and all base 3000gt before 96 or 97 had DOHC engines.

 

Not trying to dog you dude but those are not mivec heads...they are a totally different layout, in that picture up there you have the standard DOHC heads. Those valve covers wouldn't fit a mivec head. And yeah, iirc 97 was the first year for SOHC base 3000GT.
I hope you sell it, throw some for sale signs on it and drive it around, someone will buy it for the looks alone. I know a guy who sold one in Nevada for 8,000 to a kid who didn't really know any better. And his was in worse shape than yours.
