Knock sensor is on the back side of block and above the oils filter. Vtec doesnt run off the knock sensor in any way if your vtec isnt working you got other issues with vtec pressure switch,vtec solenoid, oil pressure drop due to a dented oil pan or a bad ecu/and or wiring. I If the car is throwing a check.engine.for.the o2 its either bad,wired wrong, or you got an obd2 ecu and its looking for the secondary ecu.

i have a sir b16a II gen and it defintly has the knock sensor it was throwin a code for that but it was wired up wrong and i wired it right and i believe. The knock sensor is located on the head and not the block. anyways idk what u got goin on but i know its not cracking vtec without the knock sensor wired up unless u got it tuned to bypass it, and if its throwing a check engine light for it, then that's obviously not the case, but it looks like a nice and clean car, and a decent little setup
