Thanks guy. Thread has been updated since I looked at Carfax on my own, I didn't know until a buyer called me and asked. It was deemed a total loss because of the year/mileage, but the payoff wasn't enough for him to let the car go. So he said fuck off to the insurance, and sold it on his own. The title never left his hand, was never SALVAGED, and has always been clean/original. Hence why Autocheck shows it as a clean title, because it is. The insurance claim was made and Carfax reported it, but it was never paid off; and car was never auctioned; etc.

I'll provide pictures this evening with the title; so please keep any future comments to yourself. I am trying to be as crystal clear about this as I can, and have even posted a pre-repair video.

Basically, the other parties insurance was like, we will give you $3,800 for the car. He didn't have full coverage, and the $3,800 wasn't enough for him to let the car go. He than keeps it, and sells it to me for $5,600. Cars aren't salvaged until they go to auction, and insurance gets the title. Only reason insurance ever even saw his car, because he thought he might get $7-8k for it, but they didn't, and he didn't have the means to dispute it.
