word. Im definitely down to drive anyones track beater...and I wouldnt say Im mechanically sympathetic to it, cause I certainly do have fun with it, Im just worried about something happening that would leave me stranded without a car for a few days or longer. I mean the car has upgraded brakes, the clutch and flywheel were replaced last year, new bc coilovers and I bought a bunch of new suspension parts, timingbelt and water pump and such were done. So the car runs great, has 104k miles on it and I think it will last quite a bit longer. Im really just concerned about the tranny not being able to hold up. I mean stock 02 wrx trannys are not known for their durability. This is the 2nd one in this car and its been doing well, so Im kinda scurrred to push it. I would definitely feel much better with a car I can demolish and not worry about how Im gonna get around town with my son if my car messes up.

What I did...

1. hyperdrive in someone elses car at VIR (decided this is fun)
2. Driftwater in someone elses car x5 (I need to get me one of these)
3. Bought my own Miata
4. Will do Driftwater in my Miata
5. Will do VIR in my Miata
6. Might do VIR in my S2000

Honestly... I think you should do DW and VIR in a track slut you don't really care so much about first. Once you're more comfortable, then bring your WRX to VIR if you want to. If your track slut is a Miata, you'll probably get hooked on tracking that thing though. VIR really shouldn't be that hard on your transmission.

A toooon more speed. I stayed in 4th and 3rd at ddiftwater and I was babying it bc the car was new. At VIR in my old track car I pushed harder and stayed in 4th and 5th. Except oak tree. That puppy is a slow waaaay down then drag shift up the back straight. I love vir. Such a fun track and I can't wait to do it in the e30

Third and fourth for most of VIR.

Fifth down the back straight, the front straight, and through the uphill esses if you want to save revs. You could stay in fourth through the uphill esses in the E30ata, but you'd be nearly at redline and not accelerating anyway.
Occasionally I'd take oak tree in second if I was in traffic and needed it to rotate the car.

At DW, I was in second for the tight right before the straight, the on camber/off camber kink, and for the awkward corner after the back sweeper. Fourth at the end of the straight. Otherwise I was in third the whole way. That's with ~80whp though.

Actual average speed is much higher at VIR.

Yeah. The dw traffic tore up the e30 tires real bad. It just eats them. Vir is a different environment.

I had lots of fun. Last time I went to one of these was DW4 and it was on the short course. The full course makes the event 100 times more fun.
