also chk out some other sweet looking SHOs at my SHO collection page:

In '98 this was one of the safest cars around and I have a family so that means something to me. When it came out the car retailed for $30k.

I bought this car in 2004 to serve as a fun family ride. I bought a Sienna for my wife so I no longer need a second family car and want something smaller with a manual as a daily driver.

for a ten year old car it has some minor exterior dings and blemishes, but waxed and polished it still looks sweet as is.

the interior is close to mint, I give it at least a 9.

maintenance, upgrades and mods since ownership:

brake upgrade 13" front rotors and black Cobra calipers and pads
Bullet turbo mufflers and stock tips painted black
SCT X-cal 1 programming by Ford Performance Specialists
lowered with Eibach springs
SARC cutout switch (switches to full hard mode for stiff ride)
VA legal tint
3rd cat and resonator removed
powdercoated intake black
painted vanity cover black
painted side mirrors black
3rd brake light SHO letters
V8 logo replaced non functioning trunk lock
blacked out tails and tail markers (niteshade tint needs to be redone on the taillights though)
front OEM SARC struts
front and rear strut mounts
front ball joints
front MOOG steel sway bar links
new headlights (one is already clouding, don't buy "Eagle Eyes"!)
clear front markers
aluminum subframe bushings rear/stock front
fuel pump
removed saxocone in fenderwell (restrictive)
cone filter
rear Performance Friction Carbon Metallic brake pads
probably more I am forgetting

also, cams were welded before I bought the car
(see V8sho.com or SHOForum.com for the reason behind having this procedure done)

I have 17x7 "pro titanium" (bronze) ADR Formula 5's on it, but last month hit the worst pothole of my life and bent one. the only replacement I could find was "gunmetal" (silver) to replace it, so one is mismatched. If I end up keeping the car I will powdercoat them black. the tires on the 3 bronze wheels are 1 yr old Wanli s1088 225/45/ZR17, the other I just picked up a used Michelin radial to get back on the road. If I end up keeping the car I am going to get all new rubber.

other things of note:

I drive this car to work everyday. I am not a mechanic but have maintained this car very well. this has been my pride and joy for a few years and I hate to see it go. I have met a lot of SHO people who have become good friends. I have been to All Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA in this car as well as other SHO mini meets. If I keep the car I am going to go for straight pipes b/c as good as it sounds now it'll be a true muscle car with straights. or at least sound like one haha.

the car lists at 225 hp which for its time was pretty good but know this is by no means a drag car. where this car shines is on the hwy, at about 70-80 mph start the acceleration is impressive. there aren't many cars on the road faster from a 80 mph roll than this. its not bad from a 40 mph roll either, but its downright unimpressive 0-40. the stock tranny is a weak link, and it has in the last year become sloppier 0-40mph. The way I drive this thing is I shift from 1 to 2 then into Drive, b/c I wish it were a stick and this is a nice compromise, so driving it in that fashion is a work around to the sloppiness down low.

now I don't know how long this tranny will last, one more year, two?

I do need to top off the oil from time to time. last oil change I switched from Mobile 1 synthetic to a synth blend for this reason, the Castrol one for higher mileage vehicles. also put in some Barr's seal treatment but not sure how much it helped.

the CEL is on, he last time I checked it was a MAF reading my buddy attributed to the CAI/cone filter setup. I cleaned the MAF sensor with contact cleaner but the light came back eventually and I didn't bother to have the code read. the ABS light will also occasionally flash on but I haven't diagnosed it and its been that way for 4 years.

the power steering reservoir or system seems to have a very slow leak but I have not diagnosed it I just top it off. if you take the parts car you'll have everything you need to replace any worn out steering parts.

the e-brake mechanism scraped along the brake lines for the past 9 years and created a leak. I had that patched and the brakes work fine but they aren't quite as firm as they were before so I don't think they bled the brakes properly, so I would recommend bleeding the brakes to take full advantage of the Cobra stopping power which blows the stock brakes out of the water btw

there is a scrape on the front bumper that I tried to cover up with factory paint but it didn't help much.

there is a small star chip in the windshield near the rear view mirror but it has not gotten any bigger and barely noticeable

the antenna was snapped by a neighborhood punk with nothing better to do then destroy kind people's property, so I removed it.

the stereo, well it works and has a tape deck and a 6-cd changer in the trunk (will only read CDs 1 thru tray 5 though). one rear speaker is buzzing. when I bought the car a guy had an aftermarket system in there that sounded horrible, I yanked it out and am not a car audio knowledgeable guy so I can't tell you how new the equipment is but if you want it you can have it. one of the speakers in the bass box is missing but I still have the box, its for 2-10". have an amp and a crossover too.

if you know anything about V8 SHOs you know the Eibachs are too weak for the weight of the car. useable but not ideal. so the SARC cutout switch switches off the ride height sensors on the struts so you are in full firm mode. I drive almost exclusively in hard mode b/c I prefer it. you do feel all the bumps of the road this way. but to me it beats any kind of small pogo effect which drives me batty, which you get sometimes in soft mode. if I keep the car I am going to have some one off coilovers fabricated. Also the way the switch is setup it also cancels out power steering assist when it goes to firm mode, but I kind of like that unless I am parallel parking. but at the flip of a switch, its not something that bugs me.

I think I have covered most everything. any questions pm me.

i grew up with ashley, we actually grew up in new hope which is hertford, i think paul is from hertford originally, but i dont know where they are now. but yeah i know both. sometimes paul would get on a kick that his car was "the one" and pissed off a few people with his attitude.

makes me miss my 1997 model. I loved that car and you are correct about the party begginning at 70ish. I was clocked by a policeman friend at 149mph on a georgia backroad. Sarc switch, k@n with maf adaptor, flowmaster delta 40's, all 4 cats removed, cobra calipers and rotors, ebc greenstuff pads, zex 75 shot nitrous kit, eibach's, mark7 sway bars, and stock wheels with 245/50/16 advan a048r's were my mods. Cam fix was done at gene evans (svt hub) dealership by my brother in law the day i bought it. I would like to get another one someday. g/l with the sale
