NEWPORT NEWS
A 59-year-old man has died after the motorcycle he was on collided with a car yesterday.
John Wood, of the 300 block of Williamsburg Court, died at 3:20 a.m. today from head and internal injuries, according to a police news release.
The crash happened about 4:15 p.m. yesterday when the motorcycle and a Ford Taurus collided at the intersection of Kenilworth Drive and Deep Creek Road, police wrote in the release.
The motorcycle, on eastbound Deep Creek, was making a left turn onto Kenilworth when the vehicles collided, according to police. Wood was thrown from the motorcycle and taken to a hospital.
Susan Thomas, 54, who also lived in the 300 block of Williamsburg Court, was charged with failing to yield to oncoming traffic, police said.

VIRGINIA BEACH
Just before 5:00am Sunday, police responded to an accident at the intersection of Lavender Lane and Longfellow Ave in Virginia Beach.
At the scene, they found 29-year-old Brian B. Midgett seriously injured.
Midgett, who was riding a motorcycle, rear-ended a car that was making a right turn.
Midgett was not wearing a helmet, and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say inexperience and alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
Midgett may be charged with driving with a revoked operator's license, not wearing a helmet, and a second offense of driving under the influence.

alcohol and no helmet = An idiot asking for it.
However, the older man that passed. That really sucks! Especially with the lady that failed to yield only being charged with a "Failure to Yield". That's like rubbing salt in an open wound to the old man's family.
