Winter Riding Gear Suggestions
So I want to prepare now for riding my bike through the winter. I want some suggestions for good gear for cold weather.
I've got a great jacket. It's 3 layers, the inner layer is thermal, the middle layer is mesh with armor, and the outer layer is a think waterproof layer. I think this jacket is great for all year riding.
I have Icon riding boots that seem pretty heavy duty, so I think they're good for winter, I'll just need to get some thicker socks
I have two real questions now.
1. Whats a great deal on a good pair of winter riding covering pants? I want to wear my normal pants while riding, but have some pair of thick riding pants to put over them, that extend all the way to my boots. i don't want cold ankles
2. Is there any good substitute for a scarf while riding a motorcycle? My jacket doesn't warm my neck, and my helmet doesn't either. I'm getting a cold neck. Any suggestions on a good riding neck covering?

Re: Winter Riding Gear Suggestions
Looked at some Icon textile cargo-style riding pants the other day, they're about $100, and look pretty wind/water proof. -- Definitely an "outer" layer as they didn't appear to have a liner or anything.
and a balaclava for your neck works great.

Re: Winter Riding Gear Suggestions
This is what I wore last year, may be a little excessive but I was warm
Upper Body
1st layer- Thermal
2nd layer- T-shirt or Button up for work
(Layer 1 and 2 are tucked in)
3rd layer- A textile jacket (had no liner last season so if you have one even better)
4th layer- A regular leather jacket
Lower Body
1st layer- Thermal
2nd layer- Pants for the day
3rd layer- Windproof pants I.e.- the plastic pants from my rain suit
Gloves- I wore regular gloves, its sucked haha
Footwear- I wore 2 pair of socks. 1 my normal pair and thick gortex wool sock. And sneakers.
I am planning on investing on a good pair of riding boots and facemask this winter. Does anyone have a good suggestion on gloves that will stop the wind and keep the hands warm?

Re: Winter Riding Gear Suggestions
I have a firstgear 2 pc "thermotech" or whatever it's called, suit, and it's the shit. It's pretty water tight too. easy on, easy off, and the pants have elastic straps that go under your foot to keep them from riding up. Warmest winter gear I've ever owned, besides those electric gloves.
