What kind of boots/shoes?
After my broken ankle, I'm looking to invest in a good pair of boots. I broke my ankle in a pair of Lugz that were fully laced and I'm just wondering what would everyone recommend that would be in the $100-$150 range. Feel free to discuss but I'm just wondering what's best for everyday riding, NOT the track. Thanks in advance for any forthcoming replies.

I wear sidi race boots for recreational rides and doc martens for around town/work.
I have a set of Icon Field Armour boots in size 10 that I wore twice that I need to get rid of....really bulky
$150 doesn't even get you into something with real ankle protection in a race boot and the vast majority of casual boots have little to no ankle protection aside from a little piece of foam or plastic for impact protection. Maybe the field armour boots would work but I can't even really think of anything else

I wear a 10 and 1/2 wide usually. So, overall I should be looking for something that's full length. Should I stick to Alpinestar or would Joe Rocket or some of the others work. Budget aside, I'm just looking for a good all around boot that's not going to be uncomfortable for long distance riding.

Re: What kind of boots/shoes?
I scored a KILLER deal on a pair of Alpinestars SMX Plus boots. They were what I had wanted and I totally LOVE them. They make a bit of noise if you're walking around a lot in them at stops... but they vent great, snug up nicely, and offer great protection. (i scored mine with Icon Gloves, Astars Track Pants, and the boots for $300 in like new condition)
