What do you all think...
Who really fukin cares as long as its DOT approved your melon will be fine. Arguing about which helmet is the best is like arguing about what motorcycle is the best. Everybody supports what they got at their house.
depends on what aspect your talking about... as far as safety yea its pretty hard to say any SNELL approved helmet sucks, they all are going to do the job of saving your head pretty much the same as long as it fits your properly
but theres a huge difference in weight, ventilation, wind noise, comfort, fit, quality of materials, and if they are prone to fogging up or not... just depends on what qualities are important to you

[QUOTE=Corey;2598846]Everyone says HJC sucks, but most haven't put their head on the ground in one. I have. I'll agree that there are better helmets, but you're not going to get much better for the money. All these people on the internet talk about HJC quality, yet I see professional riders wearing them. I know they probably get them for free, but Ben Spies could have any helmet for free, but he chooses HJC.

when you get big like that those companies PAY you to wear their Helmet. And talking about helmets on the track vs. helmets on the street is a big difference too. Usually a wreck on the track consists of you sliding on your ass for a few feet. Your helmet usually never touches the ground. Not tryin to bash you or anything... But when I did a nice lil faceplant last week (at the track) at about 80, bc some asshole decided he was to scared, I realized what the big thing about Araiis....Like DoingOK said, "how much is your brain worth?"

arai, shoei, suomy
spend more money on a better helmet. personal experiance
i like shoei ..great fit, very well ventilated, and it saved my
head like shit when i high sided on the twisties.
whole back of my head would of been gone if it wasn't for
my shoei rf-1000. no head injury ..not even dizzy, just shoken
up when i got thrown off at like 40.

people do get paid so that might sway their decision a little sure, but those guys value their brains too, and how a helmet performs for them could mean if they win or lose, so if it doesn't work they won't use it, thats why a number of guys in 125, 250, and moto gp quit wearing Nolan's, because they were notorious for fogging up in wet races
as for helmets being different between the street and track, the average street crash is probably more dangerous, with more objects to hit, but people hit their heads(me included) constantly at the track, all get offs aren't easy low speed low sides
Never had experience with Soumy but friends of mine that have em' will vouch for them. I've owned an HJC CL-14 I believe and it was terrible. I replaced it a month later with an RX7-Corsair from Arai, <3.
IMO, 600-800 is a small price to pay.

I had a Suomy at the start of the season. They are great helmets, good ventilation and great comfort inside (the pads were made of some soft swaid (sp?) material. My current helmet is a Shoei. OMG, these helmets are truely the shit. While they lack the comfy pads the Suomy had--the fit, ventilation, and low wind noise are great. Not to mention the actual shape of the Shoei helmets are pretty cool, they make even a big head boy look like he has a smaller head IMO. I really want to get an Arai next, just to say that I've had one, but most dealers in the 757 and even here in Harrisonburg don't stock Arai helmets for some reason.
I've done KBC and HJC as well. I will only buy them as passenger helmets and never as something I use to ride with. Not because of their safety factors, but because of the other deciding factors mentioned. I could give a fuck less about my passengers ears, vision, or shape, as long as their noggin has something on it.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not here trying to say HJC makes the best helmets on the market, but I do think they are good for their price. They shouldn't be overlooked if you don't have a lot of money and you need something decent.

i ride with an hjc every day, and trust me, i value my head (no metal head jokes please) i OWN a suomy, but i can't wear it until i get a new hinge kit.
i'll agree with corey on this one, hjc is definately the best bang for the buck.
btw, when i said that "arai's feel like a sponge on my head" i meant that as bad thing. to each thier own though. i'm more concerned about wind noise/buffeting than anything, and even my hjc is sweet in that dept. it's just not as light as my suomy.
