he didn't say what year gsxr 600 anyways that i saw, a SRAD wouldn't be a horrible first bike choice, a 2006 gsxr 600 is another thing but even then unless he asks or is told, how is he to know any better?

Very, very true...................it just get's old for me after awhile.
There are numerous threads in here where people have asked the same questions over and over again. I don't mean to come off like an ass.........sometimes.
Hmmm................maybe we could start a FAQ thread on here? That could help with newb questions that get asked repeatedly.
Can I become a mod for this forum or what? How do you go about that?

Nowhere on this forum does someone discuss how much lowering a bike will effect it's handling.
I guess it really depends on what you want to do with your bike though. People ride for different reasons, you know? If you're a relatively short guy, and need to lower it to touch the ground with the flats of your feet, that's understandable. You'll be a lot more confident if you can flat foot the ground than you would feel if you were on the tips of your toes. My bike is a tad tall for me but I haven't lowered it because I learned to ride it the way it sits. If you just want to lower it for looks, I personally wouldn't do it if you intend to do more than ride it back and forth to school or work, or take girls out on.. If you want to get out in the mountains or do some real riding outside of traffic, try not to lower it any more than you have to.
I invite you to come down to Roanoke any time you want and ride with me! I'll possibly be coming back through the Blacksburg area this weekend actually. We rode through Ironto to get to Blacksburg last Sunday, and that was one HELL of a ride.. Beautiful scenery, little to no traffic, nice weather.. Fun!
PS: Maybe you should check out my ZX6R if you're interested in buying a used bike. It's a GREAT bike!!!

Thank you, this is the type of response I had expected to get from an informed rider. I'm 6'1, so i don't need it to be lowered. The bike I am looking to buy is already lowered, but I plan on raising it back up anyways, that's why i wanted to know how badly it would hurt the handling. I would rather have it handle well than look cool. I will definately take you up on your offer to ride sometime, but it will probably have to be in the spring sometime. I will be back in richmond next week (fall break) b/c I go to VT, and they kick us out of our dorms.

Well, that GSX-R couldn't POSSIBLY look better than this ZX6R, could it? Buy mine, buy mine, buy mine!

Anyway, yeah.. that's cool. Hit me up when you get back, or if/when you get a bike. It would be cool to go for a ride sometime.
