that is a purty bike!

i got your pm, like i said, just fair warning, old triumphs require constant attention.

there's an old saying that goes something like:

TRIUMPH'S: making great mechanics out of everyday men

that's a sweet ride though. if you're not scared of constantly having to tinker with it, i say go for it.

I'd recommend being Steve's understudy but the last guy I seen wanting to do so seemed to have disappeared without a trace. Right after getting his first bike too.

I don't mind working on bikes, when I have the time. I am just trying to find a winter ride that can handle cold long cruises. My Harley takes atleast 10-15 miles before I can really 'go' with her so it's a pain in the arse. Thanks for the reply Skrooze.

If you find a good donor bike to build a metric, let me know. Who makes a good roller for metrics?

it's not as hard as some people make it seem. just like anything else, it takes practice. the hardest part is making things work together properly, and not making it look like just a pile of parts thrown together. the bike has to flow right, or it ends up looking like garbage.

I just don't know where to start or what to start with or where to find parts, etc..

I know how to weld, and I love to build shit. That's about all I've got going for me.

They have dvd videos that show you along the way in complete detail. I can't think of the name of the one I used but I will try and find it. It was a HUGE help in my first build. Building a bike is almost self explanatory as long as you are mechanically enclined. Finding parts can be difficult or it can be easy, it depends on what kind of bike you are wanting to build. There are many motorcycle websites that have swap sections. Anything you are looking for is for sale on the internet some where. If you ever had any questions you could always post them on here and I am sure someone could help you.

Skrooze, here is an idea of what I am looking to do for my winter rider.

I would be looking to do something rather low and slung out, but not uncomfortable to ride, and with a nice sound, but not a huge motor.

kinda like skrooz current bike, only blacker haha

i really fell in love with that thing when i seen it.
