Default Which performs better?

'00 Suz GSXR 600
'02 Yamaha R6

I found a GSXR in cycletrader for 4200 with 13k miles on it. Thats why im asking. They are both reputable 600's (atleast i think so from what im learning). Anyone know first hand which one is better?

And should i get a bike that isnt blue (same color as my gear), how much do standard paint jobs cost for bikes?

Most of the late model 600 supersports are pretty close performance wise. It sounds like you're a new rider, in which case either of those bikes are more than adequate. Personally I'm a Suzuki fan, but the R6 is nice.

Prices on paint jobs vary greatly depending on what you want, etc.

Just a matching blue (to my gear). Nothing fancy.

Looking at both of those bikes I would definately choose the 02 r6. To me, its a much nice bike than the old gixxers. I have had both 00 gsxr 600 and 99 r6 and to me the r6 is much nicer. The r6 is alot lighter in the front which to me makes it easier to handle compared to the 96-00 gsxr 600's. Plus the looks of the r6 are alot better in my opinion.

With equal riders the gixxer will win 9 times out of 10!

You can probably find someone who paints on the side that'd do it for a couple hundred bucks. I'd expect to pay a minimum of $600 for a decent paint job at a shop.

i've ridden them all, the 03' R6 is a world apart from the 98-02 models and would destroy any pre 04 gsxr 600(see AMA superstock last year), now comparing a 01-03 gixxer 6 to a carburated R6 it would be a close match but i much prefer the gixxer, its alot easier to ride fast even if the R6 may have 1% more potential at the limit... but '04 the gsx-r looks to be on top again

on the street though they are close enough where its 100% rider
