well basically im shopping for my first bike. im looking for something like a honda f3, or something of that nature. I was wondering what forums are out there (like dragva) for strictly bikes. and what are some good sites to look at for bikes for sale besides ebay etc...

ebay and wera.com have some too. Here's one in richmond http://richmond.craigslist.org/mcy/167892837.html everyone wants an f3 for some reason so they're often hard to come by in good shape and/or you're paying a premium for them. In the used market you might have to travel a bit to get what you want.......just a warning. You'll have 10x the luck finding something in the DC area vs around here

If its your first bike you might want to phone around for insurance!! Insurance difference between a sport bike and let say a cruiser can be quite steep! I guess thats why a lot of sport bike guys just get Liability. Best of luck

yeah, my insurance on the chopper is $75 a year (yes, really) but on my f2 was $2500 a year, and they want $8000 a year for a vtr1000. shop around...

If you don't mind a slightly bent frame you can have mine for cheap. Its a great beginner bike.

And insurance does not always depend on the type of bike. State Farm bases it solely on displacement...

Kevin, talk to Dustin (Boost Junkie). He has a Yamaha he bought to learn on and I expect he'll be selling sometime soon.

There's a sweet 91' CBR6 F2 here in NoVa for a little over 3K, body is straight with only about 12K miles. Check out the Wash DC craigslist.
