Locksmith for motorcycles?
Okay, I only have one key for my 04 zx6r. It got a little bent up the other day (not bad at all) so I wanted to get some spares made just in case it actually ended up breaking.
After calling a couple handfuls of locksmiths in the area, they all told me they don't touch motorcycles. I wondering if anyone had any particular experience with getting spare keys made for your bike.. and if you do, where did you go to do it?

Have you called up your dealer? When I was getting work done at the dealer I mentioned I needed a key and they said they don't do keys but they pointed me towards Albemarle Lock and Key (central VA, won't help you much) but your dealer may be able to give you the answer.

is it a inverted key??
like flat and square sided with the key shape cut out the middle??
if its a regular key then lowes/homedepot/walmart should be able to cut it...
i have had them cut copies for suzuki keys

modern bikes nowadays have a digital key code that is needed to make duplicate keys. you'll need to find that code and take it with you to the locksmith. otherwise, its almost impossible to make a dup key.

all you have to do if there is a problem or if you lose a key all together is pull the upper triple tree and pull the cylinder apart and any locksmith can cut a key....... ive done it at least 20-30 times!
