Question Good Way to Learn?

I'm interested in learning to ride and purchasing my own bike in the next few months... I understand the TCC classes are booked until August... are there any other places to learn how to ride? I have no experience what so ever (unless 4 wheelers count, haha)... any advice on where to start? Thanks

I learned in a parking lot for quite a few miles then one day decided to drive to work (3 miles) everything went well. Starte riding more around the block and to work. Then rode with a friend out in the country and still driving to work. Practice practice practice.

get a really cheap bike and just do it. only way to learn is to just ride. i myself am teaching myself how to ride i have a old 83 honda 650 nighthawk. It is not the fastest bike but it works for me. Just take your time. I found that it is just like riding a bike without pedaling.

Am I the only one who disagree with that statement?

get your permit have to have it for 3 months and ride with someone who has a license, then go take the class, then ride by yourself till you get use to it. If you teach yourself you start getting bad habbits. it will be hard to brake them when you take the class. That is the best way to learn I think.

riding a bicycle is totally unrelated... and riding a dirt bike does not automatically translate into being able to ride a street bike

The class is a great idea. But if you can't attend see if someone who has many years of riding experience will take you to a huge deserted parking lot and show you the basics.

I had my girlfriend on the street within a few hours.

Cool... I think I'll go register for the class, and in the meantime, have some of my buddies give me pointers... I just can't wait to actually get on one, and drive it myself
