Default Clutch Cable Replacement

I have a 04 gsxr 750 and need the clutch cable replaced. I found a couple of walk throughs online but there was a lot of conflicting information. Some sites say the cable should be lubed with wd40 before sliding the cable into the sheath where as some sites say lubricating the cable is bad for it and not necessary. So should I lubricate with wd40 or not? Can I use PB Blaster instead of WD40? (It's what I have)

Thanks

some of the newer bikes have teflon coated on the cable, so it's not necessary to lube it and can be bad.
i dont know if the 04 gsxr has the teflon coat or not, refer to the users manual under maintanence section .

most cables don't need to be lubed, but if you feel the need, use an actual cable lube, not wd40. Cable lube is a little thicker, and will stay in the housing, whereas wd40 is real thin, and will pretty much just run out of the bottom of the cable.

Thanks for all the info. I just picked up a stock cable with the sheath and a bottle of bike aid lube.

+ rep to skr00seloose who's always given me great info on all my bike questions.
