they stopped making Cb500 fours in 1973. You mean CB550?
they have 35mm forks just like Cb450, Cb750, xs650, etc....
CB750 are a little longer. Cb750F are 35mm too but even longer.
CB450 are same length i believe.
what are you trying to accomplish? just need some forks that aren't rusted or bent? or looking for something longer?

ok, thanks. my friend has a bike in his garage thats his uncles which im trying to get possibly. I knew it was a old cb xxx four, i asked about it and he said it was a 78' 500, i knew honda went from the 500 to 550 but couldnt remember the year. So its a possibility that its a 550 i guess. When you reffere to the 35mm is the the width or diameter its shaft that goes into the frame, or just the width/diameter of the fork. I not really looking to extend too much, i might just try to accomplish a little extension with raking it out a little more, nothing major. I thought it would be neat to able to put a newer set of forks say from a cbr f2,f3 or something. Maybe give it a little more mass in the front. Have any ideas? I heard that suzuki dz400 dual sport forks will fit but i dont know for sure

35mm = diameter of the fork leg tube. Keep in mind that when you change the angle of the steering head by altering the fork legs, you greatly effect the handling of the bike. Most sport bike guys will "lower the clamps" or "raise the forks in the clamps" to effectively shorten the fork leg length, which steepens the steering angle angle and makes the bike turn more quickly. Something as little as 5mm will make a noticeable difference in the way the bike turns in. Other guys will raise the tail of the bike to create the same effect.

Also, watch out for the spring rates and dampening, as a fork sprung for a heavier (or lighter) bike will make the front end handle differently as well.

Very true, its like the difference between going from my previous 04' ZX-10R and hopping on a harley. The look im going to for is going to be something like this hopefully just with a minor changes I think it would look good as well with some bronze kawasaki zx forks (if they would fit).

you can swap forks with the trees, but if you don't know how to size bearings and modify stems, you should stick to 35mm forks. go for CB750F 76-78 if you want a little longer slightly better fork. I don't remember if the axles are the same or not. you may get lucky and be able to use the Cb550 wheel and axle with no issues.

Well its a 500 four, got a look at it today when i went to work on his car. Im going to do some research. my cousin is a machinist and i wonder if he could make some tree plates to incorporate maybe some newer cbr forks, or something but then i dont know what wheel i would use. If i stay with the cb forks (whether it be 750 or what) i think im going to use a 21" harley wheel and just lace it to the stock honda hub, ive seen a few do this and it looks good. Not to mention the wheel is just $40, but then you have to but spokes but oh well. Im still on a "quest" for the bike however. Looking for a cb750 mainly, but other cbs may work. So if you know of any let me know.
