Looking at a sport bike thinking of going with a 1000 this time. what are the pros and cons of a pre 04 r1 or any other 1000 if you have any impute. Thanks in advance

from my experiance (which is honestly not very much) your gonna pay a lot more for lower miles (no crap right). I just bought my 04 R6 with 2500 miles for $4750, but have seen the lower milage bikes going for a lot more. A good friend of mine has an 04 R1 and has never had any problems.

mileage, honesty, means alot less than the condition of the bike. i've seen sooo many sub 10k mile bikes that were beat to death that i'd never buy, but there's alot of well cared for bikes out there with higher mileage that i'd buy in a heartbeat. japanese bikes will run forever if they're taken care of. if the owner starts talking about how the bike wheelies easy or whatever....walk away.... it's probably been beat on.

+1

I looked at on 06 speed triple with 42k miles, saw a zx10r with 70k, and have seen a ton of bikes that have 10-15k put on them every year......wouldn't hesitate to buy any of them because they were all well taken care of and were decent deals. It's even slightly easier with the liter bikes because its hard to beat on them on a regular basis

Thanks yeah I got lucky on my first bike because it came off the original owner and he showed me all the paper work from the time he bought it. My friend who's into buying cars showed me a few bikes on a salvage site what is your opinion on something like that if I want to build it up over the winter. Is there any images of the '09 line up from the different manufactures

Yeah along the same lines, my bike is an 06 GSXR-600 and I have close to 15,000 miles in 2 1/2 years of riding. People say its a ton of miles, but I have always done the maintenance with Amsoil products and kept the chain clean. I haven't had a problem with it yet. So like Screws said it really is all about how it was treated, not how many miles it has.
