anybody close to lexington that can help
I am new to bikes as this is my first one and I am having some trouble.
first off my bike is a 98 honda cbr 600f3
Ok here is my problem. Wed. I was riding to work at about 60 mph. and the bike started stumbling and cut off. I switched over to reserve tank and nothing. So I had to push it over two miles to work. Well to day I got to work on it and the pump is pumping, fuel lines are clean and it still wont start. I took the airbox out and sprayed a little gas into the carbs and as long as I do that it will run but as soon as I stop it quits. Help this is my only mode of trans.
that was yesterday
and this is today
ok . got it running but found a fuel leak. The vent tube on the inside of the tank has a small hole in it. so I drained the gas to where it is below the hole so it wont leak. Then I installed my K&N that came in today now the bike doesnt want to run over 3 thousand rpms. So I am off to put the stock dirty filter back in to see if that makes any difference. Is there any way to fix the hole in the vent tube or is my tank shot? Hopefully I can fix it because it is a smokin joes edition bike and I will prob not find another one used.
Still doing the same thing after changing filter it will start all the time now and it isnt leaking because I have the fuel below the pinhole. And it wont rev past 2700-3000 rpms. help what do i check. this is my first bike and it has been great for the past 1200 miles until now.
went out this morning and bypassed the fuel cut relay and nothing. Now it just turns over wont even start.

sounds like you already have it pretty well worked out man. id call a shop and see if they have replacement vent tubes. if its metal, ( i know nothing of your bike) just use some JB weld. if its rubber, would rubber cement work? i have no clue.

It sounds to me carbs or it fuel in the vent line. the tank could be vacume locked. the vent line is in the tank a bitch to get too... if it is the vent line in the tank then you could cap it so you can fill your tank.. you could drill a small vent hole under the gas cap so the tank can breath. may also need a carb cleaning ( sucked some junk into the carbs) but you can try the tank thing first.. one way to check run it with the gas cap off... it just sounds to me not getting enough fuel

Yea the vent is metal in the tank. I went out this morning and it wont even start. And EMCracing do you think that just capping of the bottom vent and plugging the top and drilling a small hole will work?I am just stumped. right now this is my only vehicle.

that will fix the vent tube problem it would be hard to get to the tube to repair or can you see were the hole is. the vent tube is there to allow air to exstange . by drilling the hole at the top it will allow the air in and out. please no one nock the spelling you all know what I am tring to say LOL
