87' cbr 600 f1 hurricane... worth it?
I come to you in my time of need, cycle corner. Bathe me in your wealth of knowledge and plethora of opinions.
I'm considering picking up this bike: http://fredericksburg.craigslist.org...483134853.html
It will be a starter bike for me and I'll be trading for it, not paying cash. For those interested I'm trading this: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...494032476.html
Is it worth it? $2,300 seems a little steep for an 87... The individual that owns it works at a motorcycle shop Village Motorsport, for what it's worth. He says the bike has some kind of "original" Yoshi exhaust, an "R&D" pipe, if I'm not mistaken. It's been lowered a little and according to him, has all maintenance up to date. The bike has 24,000mi.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

24k is high if it has not been taken care of. R&D? maybe, D&D? LOUD AS FUUUU. Also, yoshi and D&D are to completely diff companies. 2300 is steep for that bike IMO especially if its been dropped and needs fairings. I wouldn't give him more than 1500 for that bike. And thats IF the motor has been taken care of soundly.

As for the scuffs he said he was moving it in his garage and it fell over because he hit the kickstand when moving it, or something along those lines. He's the second owner of the bike and he said it's never been dropped while being ridden. I'm probably gonna street-fighter it out anyways. Not a fan of those plastics.
Also, not paying cash. I'm trading my GTI and will be removing parts as necessary to match the value of the bike. I figured it was a bit overpriced but $800 over?

you can do way better i am sure, especially if you sell your car and get cash in hand... those older hondas are great, but you should be able to swoop up a F2 or F3 and possibly even a F4 with some light fairing damage. I'm sure that guy is hoping to get $1500 or so in reality but i wouldn't pay over a grand...
this thing is pretty sweet and in the burg

you would definitely need cash for this(he says no trades), but the miles are comparable and it is 10 years younger and cheaper

I now sincerely doubt I'll be going through with this.
I appreciate the info and opinions. Anyone else, please feel free to chime in.

While I have a thread here already, could anyone suggest a good resource for bike classifieds? Tried ebay, craigslist and driven... that's about it.
