Had an 06 Ninja 250 for two years from new, sold it with 30,642 miles on it when I put it away wet.
How much maintenance was done to the bike before you got it? The N250 before 08 was notorious for being very needy. It required preventive maintenance, even just sitting there. Mine wouldn't start if it sat for 4 days.
Valve clearance check.
Clogged fuel line.
Spark plugs.
Idle mixture screw settings.

i never had to do anything to mine once i started riding it.. i had around 20K in less than a year.. then sold it to get a car..
