not starting off but end up around 1000-1200whp, just a goal to try for , i know we can push 4bangers hondas to 6-700whp alllday now so i wouldnt think a for a v8 that shouldnt be to hard,, i just plan to make around 7-800whp to start off with

Gonna have to scrap the whole LS1 setup for 1K-1.2Krwhp; no way in hell you will keep the heads down. Gonna have to spend the big coin on an LSX block and heads. Your LS1 block only 4 bolts/cyl to hold the heads down. The 7-800 is very do-able, and quite do-able without needing sleeves or a stroker crank.

MIGHTYMOUSE made 995rw at PAS with a stock LS2 block, but it lifted the heads at that level. I have never heard of any sleeve issues on these blocks to be honest; the issue on the LS1/LS2s are pickuping the heads up with cylinder pressure. 700rwhp can be done with a stock-inch LS1 on pump gas if you have your schizz together.

I think he was refering to sleeving it to run a bigger bore which really isn't necessary if your building a ls1 turbo engine. Like Steve said, lifting the heads will limit the power you can make. You can make 1000 hp w/o going with a LSX block but you just have to deal with pushig some water and having to put it back in the radiator after making a pass. However by the time you add up all the machining cost to get a ls1 or iron block ready then you could have had a LSX block for not much more. Keep in mind if you go with a LSX block then your head choice will also be limited to the companies that are currently making heads to work with the extra studs. You won't be able to easily pick up a set of used heads if your looking to save money.

If you do go with a ls1 block, be sure to pick up a 99-01 block.
