If you guys are interested I know a guy who has started making cages. I saw a cage he did in his personal car and it looked very well made. I'm fairly sure he is on these forums. If not i'll let him know about this thread... if you're interested.

How much does a cage weigh anyways? I think that would be the primary reason I'd go with just a bar and maybe some sidebars across the doors.

Well, drag racing rules require diffrent things for different times. Not really up to you if your car runs faster than a certian time.

I don't give two shits about drag racing. My car will never be fast enough on a strip to need one. On the otherhand, at least a bar is requirement in track events, plus they just look damn cool. I was thinking some sidebars might help my survival rate when my 1 ton car gets hit by a 4 ton H2 also.

I know you don't... but that's kinda what this thread is about.. and why THEY were thinking about getting cages.

Road Racing or Drag racing dont matter... Once you break a 1/4 mile time or a lap time on a road course you are supposed to have a cage...

If you have a slow car and want the looks... Get someone to make you a cage out of exhaust pipe or something.. Dont expect it to help you any though...

I have seen even a 6-point cage save a life in the event of a tire blowout or someone else messing up...

I have never in my life seen a road racing association require a cage after hitting a certain lap time. Not open track events anyways.
