Default trying to find a 4l60e in richmond

Hey Everybody,

I just picked up my 96 caprice 9c1 wit the 5.7l lt1 in it. However the tranny's 3/4 gears are shot. Does anybody know anybody that has a spare 4l60e laying around? I am really looking for a 96 one from etheir a b-body(caprice,roadmaster,fleetwood) or out of the same year f-body. I dont have that much money i am trying not to spend no more than like 300 unless somebody will let me pay them over time. I'm a broke college student lol. But if any of you guys no anybody with one please reply asap. Thanks alot

Try easternfbodies.org or is it .com....something along those lines. There's a lot of good Chevy guys on there and I am sure there are some with trannies lying around.

AL-David, it will likely be a th-700R4

804GSX91: Not to sound discouraging, but 300 bucks is wishful thinking unless someone does you a major favor. I was looking for a core to build up for my daily driver, and folks want 5-600 for broken trannies... Good luck though, seriously.

try bruce's or ebay or the junkyard network...300 probably won't happen though.

Nope. The 700R4 and the 4L60E are the same teanny, with different names...sorta. The only difference was in 1994-ish when they became electornically controlled, they became a 4L60E. So if it's an A4, it's a 4L60E.

also you might want to check into what interchanges. 94 4l60es will not work in 95-96 cars as far as fbodies. Im not sure about caprices though. Why not just swap a th350 into the car? They can be found alot easier and they are alot stronger than the 4l60e trannys. It would be a good idea to swap if your looking to upgrade the engine later on.

Right about the years and this model in question, but not about them being the same...
