This makes a tuning nightmare when.... well I don't need to tell you. Point is, I've seen several occasions where boost set to 24 psi will fall to 19 psi by redline on the E316g.

And how in the world could you tell it was HKS vs. Kelford. If you can determine that by ear then you have one HECK of an ear. lol!
Exhaust backpressure is different than boost pressure though ideally 1:1 is what you want. The boost is always going to fall off with a turbo that small, it gets maxed out at high RPM on a good flowing motor. The cars that run 35 PSI on it will fall to 25ish by redline. I've gotten them to hold boost a little better, like 27ish PSI, by shimming them and running very open exhausts to increase the pressure difference. A buddy of mine did some testing a few years back with pushing turbos past their limits by forcing the gate shut when it wanted to naturally open and it led to some pretty spectacular turbo explosions (i.e. wheels turbine wheels shooting out the muffler), etc so keep that in mind if you're playing with that idea.

sidenote, I put an HTA68 (billet wheel modded evo3 turbo) on a car a couple weeks back and it holds 29 PSI to 7500 RPM no problem. Seems promising. This car had a Evo3 turbo on it before that would fall off boost top end. Seems this compressor has more flow up there. spools the same maybe faster too. Something to think about.

Eh it's not too difficult to listen to a cam lope and make guesses as to what kinda cam it is. Easier with a carbed car though. But i've listed to enough DSMs I can call them on sound fairly accurately (though I wouldn't bet on 100%). The larger lift cams are more rumbly where the smaller lift cams have a more rythmic sound to the lope, if that makes any sense. Simple way of explaining. MAF with big cams makes it easy to hear the lope. speed density hides it pretty well if you tune the car right. I got a car here I just put 4R cams and 2100cc injectors in and it idles like stock.

Yep, that's definitely the one. The previous owner's name was Alex Wiborg. My fave Subie of all time. I'm against buying a pre-modded car, but at least IslandBoy bought one HELL of a pre-modded car. I just sent him a message on facebook asking why he sold it because I didn't even find this out until a few days ago.
