The company contracted to handle interstate maintainence is Transfield Services North America, Eischen says. That contractor tells CBS 6 it received "200-300 claims per year for roadways we maintain in Virginia". That includes portions of Interstates 95, 85, 64, 295, 195 and State Highways 76, 150, 288 in and around Richmond.
The company adds "Each claim is thoroughly researched and reviewed. Payments are made on those claims where our company is deemed liable." If your car was damaged as a result of hazardous road conditions, such as potholes, you may be able to receive reimbursement if the owner of the road or the responsible contractor is deemed negligent in addressing the problem prior to the time you encountered it.
Determining negligence varies based on certain conditions, and is therefore, decided on a case-by-case basis. The keys are whether agency or contractor had prior knowledge of the problem and whether it had adequate time to respond before damage was sustained.
If you wish to file a claim for damages sustained by your vehicle along a roadway, you'll want to follow the following procedures. Have specific information ready: Date of accident Exact time of accident Exact location of accident Estimate or receipt for any vehicle repair needed as a result of damage Photograph of damage and/or road problem is also helpful
In the City of Richmond, Public Works spokesperson Sharon North says you can file a claim by submitting a letter and all pertinent information to the City Attorney's office. You can also dial 3-1-1 and have them direct your call.

Ironically I work at VDOT, but I still called and filed a claim yesterday. Normally I wouldn't bite the hand that feeds me, but I am still a taxpayer. Too bad it didn't happen in the mustang where my fake wheels would have broken....I mean my authentic Saleens. Then maybe I could finally afford to buy some classics.
Thanks! I don't like most Mustangs either, but I have grown attached to this one. If I continue to throw money at it, then it seems to help me overlook the negatives.
